The Connect to Your Future program provides an opportunity for those who may not be able to afford training to pursue a high-growth, high-demand career. Karla Alarcon is thankful for the opportunity to complete her degree without the financial stress and burden.  She was also given supportive services along the way to help her succeed and follow her dreams.

Karla wanted to pursue an accounting degree to be able to use these skills in business as they play an important role in running a business and keeping finances afloat. She successfully completed her Associate in Accounting degree at Joliet Junior College this past December.  She has taken the skills and information she learned in her classes and is now attending Eastern Illinois University in hopes of obtaining her bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  Her favorite quote is: Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world - Nelson Mandela.  Karla plans to take the educational experiences learned to make the world a better place.

She is thankful for the opportunity to be able to achieve her dreams. The Connect to Your Future team provided her with the tools necessary to be successful and stay on track. Her words of encouragement for our local youth are: If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.
